Miles --

Capt. Lenoir's "Mathews Rangers" was assigned to duty as Co. "I", 3rd Alabama Cavalry, but didn't serve with the regiment until 1864. Officers and men came from Wilcox and Dallas Counties.

Capt. McCoy's "Baldwin Rifles" came from Baldwin and Mobile Counties and was assigned to duty as Co. "F", 21st Alabama Regt. I've seen an ADAH source which cites this company as being independent, but I can't imagine why.

I don't see a reason to assume that a member of one of these two companies might have ever served with the other.
