Anyway, I walked around and there were many unmarked graves, most actually, just mounds of bricks, sunken spots, no headstones, etc. and all either wholely or partially covered with dead leaves, pine straw and cones, etc.. One family plot was a Manning family plot, the few marked graves were some masons, Vernons, etc.. In my opinion it is a danged shame for an old cemetery like that to be allowed to just go to seed, get covered and overgrown with brush and woods and covered by leaves and forest debris!
Anyway, luckily there were five Bulgers side by side with headstones. Next to them were the Vernons; Anyway, here are the Bulgers and what their stones had on them; Left to Right:
1. Jno. R.J. Bulger (no dates)
Pvt. Co. "C", 1st Ala. Inf.
Confederate States of America
2. L. P. Bulger
Pvt. Co "B", 8th Ala. Regt. Inf.
1835-1863
C.S.A.
3. James Bulger (No dates)
Pvt. Jeff Davis Art
Ala. Cav.
Confederate States of America
4. OUR FATHER (with a Mason sign at top and no dates or anything. )
John R. Bulger
Erected by William (I wonder who William was?)
5. OUR MOTHER
Elizabeth Bulger
HERD (and nothing else, no dates or anything)
I hope this helps and I am sorry the headstones gave no more info.
Later,
Dave
