Maj T H Gilbert 26th/50th AL Inf

I am looking for information on Major Thomas Henry Gilbert of the 26th/50th AL Infantry who resigned his position in 1863 to form a cavalry battalion. I would like to find out more about this cavalry battalion. Also my understanding is that he was killed in a duel with Dr. Theo Westmoreland shortly after the war ended and that there is an obituary/death notice about it. I really like to get the specific information contained within this obituary, or better yet a copy of it.

Thomas Henry Gilbert and Van Buren Gilbert (regimental surgeon 26th/50th AL Infantry, later senior surgeon on Lt. Gen. Stephen Dill Lee's staff) were brothers. Capt. John E. Gilbert ('B' Co., 26th/50th AL Infantry) was their cousin.
