Letters from Charles Wesley Foust of Company B, 10th Alabama were previously located online at www.mindspring.com/~spbarber429/shelfoust.htm This included letters from 20 April 1863 (camp near Fredericksburg, Virginia); July 1863 (Gettysburg); 15 September 1863 (near Rapidan Station); and 3 October 1863 (camp near Rapidan Station) - his brother David Clinton Foust also served in the company. Information may be found from the 1907 census of Confederate soldiers from Jefferson County, Alabama. Also see, Confederate Military History, Extended Addition, vol. VIII (Alabama), to include pages 544-545, 694, 709-710, and 767. The book, I Saw the Elephant - the Civil War Experiences of Bailey George McClelan, is an interesting account from a Company D soldier. A list of casualties in the regiment from Gettysburg, broken down by company, was printed by the Selma Morning Reporter of 18 July 1863; in that battle Company B's Captain W. A. McMillian was reported as severely wounded in the leg, and two Lieutenants were also wounded. I have been able to identify a total of 22 individuals from Company B who served at Gettysburg.
