H. H. Norman, age 44, enrolled as Captain in Captain Norman's Company, Alabama Volunteers* March 12, 1862 at Greenville, Alabama, submitted his resignation December 30, 1862 having been absent sick since May 9, resigned February 9, 1863

* This company subsequently became Company E, 33rd Regiment Alabama Infantry

Dear Sir,

I wrote to Lient Col Crittenden a few days ago enclosing a certificate of my conditions as to health. I have lost all hopes of ever being able to take charge of my command any more. I hope you will faviour my Resignation and let me hear from you soon.

Let me advise you Dear Col that I do not take this ____ _____ _ _____ my health compell me to take ___ _____

If I live to be a sound man any more and the war still be continues, I will be with you in the good cause.
