McEachern would have been in a Nashville prison hospital recovering from wounds when MRB came in town to take the oath of allegiance on Jan. 21, 1865. MRB also states that he deserted on Dec.10, 1864. Where could he have been during those six weeks?
James Evans is the more interesting case, if he is the man who belonged to the 37th Mississippi Regt. I would have to believe this is another James Evans who actually survived the Civil War.
