Unless we disregard the 1860 census, I don't see how Alfred Raymond can be a foreign national. In 1860 he's age nineteen, born in Alabama, living in the household of Dudley Rayford, a butcher, age forty-four, also born in Alabama. Rayford suffered a compound facture of his right leg at Murfreesboro which left him unable to travel for over two years. He was released on exchange in early March 1865, and sent home via Richmond VA.
