I suspect he may have been age 50 and was caught up with the Conscription Act which age limit was raised from age 45 to 50 early 1n 1864. Caught a "Camp Disease" soon after enlisting and died soon thereafter. I would believe he would have been buried in the Richmond Hollywood Cemetery, however, I do not find his name in the burial list I located. His remains also may have been returned home, however, this is not certain as many unknowns are buried at Hollywood.

The McKenzie House record is only a Regimental or Company report, recording that his name appeared on the roster sometime during the period noted.

Asthols/A. Brookin, married Farmer, Private, Company K, 4th Alabama Infantry, enlisted May 26,1864, received an issue of clothing June 15, 1864, admitted July 6, 1864 to Howard's Grove General Hospital, Richmond, Virginia, Rubeola [Measles], died July 25/August 3, 1864*

* One card says July 25, two others August 3.
