Dr. Massey, within the last 12 months, I corresponded quite frequently with Terry Hambrecht, M.D., senior technical advisor to the National Museum of Civil War Medicine in Maryland. Dr. Hambrecht is a remarkably well versed man -- not to mention resourceful -- in all areas related to those who served in a medical capacity (on both sides) during the war.

In his role, he also has access to a tremendous amount of information on individual physicians, unit/post surgeons and their various assistants and personnel. And he proved himself to be a meticulous researcher -- as well as an absolute delight to work with. As I'm certain he would be quite interested in the men you inquired about, and he no doubt may be of assistance to you in your work, I've forwarded an email to him with a link to your original post.

Perhaps he will join the conversation and provide some insight, assistance or potential leads.

Cordially,
- C.C. (Chip) Culpepper in Little Rock
