13th Alabama at Bernard's Farm 7 June 1863

The Mercer museum in Doylestown, Pennsylvania (Bucks County) has on display an Enfield musket on which an engraved plate has been attached with the following inscription: Captured June 7th, 1863 from the 13th Alabama Regt with 88 others of like character at Bernard's Farm south side of the Rappahannock River 3 miles southeast of Fredericksburg, Virginia. It was apparently captured by members of the 23rd Pennsylvania Regiment, who presented it to their colonel, John Ely. The museum's website shows and describes this weapon and notes the 23rd Pennsylvania was involved in heavy skirmishing at that location on 7 June, just prior to the Gettysburg campaign.
