Dr. Courtney J. Clark surgeon

I am trying to find out information on my Great great grandfather Dr. Courtney J Clark born in Laurens county district, South Carolina on Oct 27th 1816. In 1843 he received his medical degree
from the Louisville College of Medicine. In 1844 he received another MD from the Jefferson medical College in Philadelphia Pa. he moved to Jacksonville Alabama where he started his first practice
in 1846. He received an appointment as an assistant surgeon in the United states Volunteers and was attached to the First Alabama Regiment. A year later he was promoted to surgeon and was
assigned by President Polk to the Palmetto Regiment of south Carolina. he participated in all the battles in the valley of Mexico receiving a Gold Medal from the State of South Carolina.He married
Nancy Walker Clark in Jacksonville, Alabama in 1853. In 1861 he was commissioned a surgeon in the Confederate Army by General Shorter of Alabama. He was placed in charge of the Alabama
Hospital in Richmond. He was ordered to Montgomery in 1863 where he remained on duty until the end of the war in 1865. No date of death is known he may have moved to Selma, Alabama after
the war. No more info is known. Any further information about his service, unit pictures insignias etc would be appreciated including siblings, parents names, birth places etc.
