Did Eli Herring (b ca 1825-30, married June 1857, d ca 1892) serve in the Civil War?
He was in Barbour Co., Al in 1860 and Butler Co. in 1866.

I've been told that Eli's younger brother David H. Herring (Dale County Grays, Co. B, 33rd AL Reg.) lived in Barbour Co.
when he enlisted and that he died at the Battle of Peachtree Creek. I would also appreciate additional info about David.
