According to an 11 October 2009 article that appeared in the Mail Tribune (Medford, OR) written by Bill Miller (link below), the "Coughs Up Bullet" story of Willis Meadows was the subject of a 1938 "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" that was published in 42 countries and translated into 17 different languages.
