Re: fact or fricion

The last Confederate killed east of the mississippi was killed at the battle of Munford, there is a monument at the burial site of 1st Lt. A. J. Buttram, who was under the command of Benjamin Jefferson Hill, he was killed on April 23, 1865, while about 150 Confederates attempted to hold off 1500 of John Croxton's men, who were under orders to destroy the iron works which was just uunder 2 miles away, known as Salt Creek Furnace, AKA Jennifer Furnace. There was alo 2 union soldiers killed. Though he was not the last, he was the last east of the Mississippi.
