An error on George's post has Cotton receiving clothing on Oct. 6, 1862. In October 1862 Elijah Cotton was serving with Co. "E", 3rd Alabama Regiment. The receipt date should be October 6, 1864. At this time Elijah Cotton was serving with a detachment of dismounted men at Coosa River Bridge.

In 1860 Elijah Cotton was living in Dale County AL, age 18, born in Georgia.
