Thomas Howle/Howell 1st Al inf Co. A

I think I have found the right guy. I've been looking for the "Uncle Thomas Howle" mentioned in an Aug 1864 letter from Robert Thomas Mickleberry Simmons (40th Ala inf) to his wife as being killed on "the 28th of July, his body was left on the field". With a book I have on the Simmons family and several other's rootsweb trees http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=Search&includedb=〈=en&ti=&surname=howle&stype=Exact&given=thomas&bplace=&byear=&brange=0&dplace=&dyear=&drange=0&mplace=&myear=&mrange=0&father=thomas&mother=nancy&spouse=&skipdb=&period=All&submit.x=Search

I believe I have the right man. the Soldier and sailors system has him listed as both T E L Howle and T E L Howell. Can anyone tell me if there is a record of Thomas E. L. Howle/Howell of the 1st Ala inf company A having died on that date? I also found this for him on the ADAH site http://www.archives.state.al.us/civilwar/soldier.cfm?id=96089
