Re: Thomas Howle/Howell 1st Al inf Co. A

The Confederate Marker that is in County Line Cemetery in northern Elmore County is just a "Memorial Marker" this soldier is NOT buried in this cemetery. I am sure this is the Thomas E.L. Howle this lady is looking for, where he died is unclear, she said Ezra Church in Ga. his marker states that he died in Port Hudson. The marker was proberly made years after his death and who ever requested the marker may have not been sure where he died. However, Ken Jones Eclectic Project listed several soldiers from Company A, 1st Alabama being captured at Island #10 and being held at Port Hudson. If she had any information on parents, spouse or siblings of Thomas E.L. Howle this may clear some of the mystery up because his parents and siblings of this man listed are buried in this cemetery and a nearby cemetery.
