Oat's or Oates Landing on Tennessee River

I am researching for a book on the operations of John Hunt Morgan's cavalry in 1862. On 26 April 1862, he mentioned being within two miles of Cherokee and intending to cross the Tennessee River at "Oak's Landing". I would apprecaite any information with the exact location of the landing, on what road, characteristics, river's width, any information to make it more than just a place name.

Also, I would be most appreciative of any information on Morgan's cavalry in 1862, such as newspaper articles, diaries, letters.

My Thanks and God's Blessings,
Lanny K. Smith
