That obit is intriguing. Looks like Silas served in the Mexican War---or claimed to serve in it. Since he was a "hero" in two wars, what might be the other one? Umm. I think he would have been too young to serve in one of the Indian Wars. Perhaps he got confused with his third wife's first husband. Not trying to judge the man, just understand him better.
