Thanks so much, Roberta. I moved to Colorado but am originally from B'ham., Alabama. My niece who is still in that area and I have been following the genealogies of Thomas Prewitt, apparently Obediah's father. We have known about so many spellings of the family name and discovered another Obadiah that must have been a cousin. Was this the reason for changing the spelling of the name? We also noticed in all of that history that no additions or follow-ups had been included for Jasper Alexander Pruet, son of Alexander, and that Alexander's name was spelled Pruitt in that study. All of the various spellings even in a single family could and probably came about from record takers/keepers. We were unable to access newton County, Ga. records that have information about Jasper Alexander Pruet though he was born there and later moved to Clay County, Alabama, where my grandfather, Sanford Elijah Pruet and later my father was born.

My niece is interested, as am I, In what you know about Obediah's fore-bearers. It certainly appears that some branches of the famiky ventured west earlier, but not from this direct line in the genealogy records we worked our way thourgh.

You are so kind to communicate with me.
