J.D. stood for James Daniel, and at Gettysburg when captured he was send to Fort Delaware Prison. Later he changed the spelling of Callaway. I had wondered how he had become a doctor in central Texas. He was a doc until about 1918,when he died. He was my GGrandfather. Thanks for the good information. R.D.
