Would appreciate assistance in locating Isaac Samuel Tindal who according to family lore died
on 28 July, 1864 in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia. He married Mary Jane Vandiver in October,
1861 in Cherokee County, Alabama.

Isaac Samuel was born 7 August 1832 in Habersham County,Georgia. I assume that he would
have served in a unit organized in Alabama since his name appears on the Federal Census for
1860 in Jefferson County, Alabama. However, some of his immediate family still resided in Georgia
so he could well have served in a Georgia unit.

The date of his death as reported indicates that he died in the fighting for Atlanta. I find several
men with the name Isaac Samuel Tindal serving in the U.S. Forces but have no reason to believe
that he enlisted in the Union Army.
