7,000 was about 3 times the number Rousseau had, but could that may have been a legitimate estimate by the Confederate troopers? I think this may have been the first time Clanton's brigade had faced Federals armed with Spencer repeaters. Wonder if a force with Spencers might triple the fire of a similarly sized force armed with single shot rifles.
