Alan, my point was just to give some examples that Clanton's men had seen action before Rousseau's raid. Livingston's 9th was apparently at Montevallo when Clanton and the 6th were with the army in Georgia. As far as Chehaw, are you saying that Clanton did not engage Rousseau on July 18 or just that he wasn't with Thomas during the Chehaw battle? I still have not read Capt. C. T. Hardman's letters, but would like to. Do you have a copy?
