I thank you greatly for your reply. I looked at the 1860 census and discovered that the George W. Smith listed and his family are indeed my ancestors. He was born in Dallas County Alabama and moved to Bowie County, Texas with other North Alabama families after the civil war. His grave is located at Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Maud, Texas. On the gravestone it is mentioned that he was a civil war soldier. Once again, many thanks.
