John william Atwell/Atwill Confed. soilder

Alan I have found who the soilder is listed in the 9th Alabama Regt. Infantry, Co I. He is only listed as Atwill. I had thought for a while that he might be my g/Grandfather William Henry from Lauderdale Co Ala. The Atwill listed is John William Atwell from Lauderdale Co Ala. A cousin to my G/grandfather. I have looked at his record thru the Alabama Civil War Archives. He was killed at Fraziers Farm in 1862,June 30.He was the son of William, and Eliza Atwell who lived in Lauderdale Co. He was born in 1839 in Lawrence Co Tn.Now my question is.. On his record it states that on the record roll there was data to Dec. 31, 1864. What does this mean?If he died in 1862 why would there be more info in 1864? I would appreciate your help. The Robert Atwell, and my G/grandfather Wm Henry were brothers. I am concentrating on my Henry possibly being the Henry Atwell listed in the 53rd Ala Partisan Rangers. Thanks for your help, Bonnie
