R.M. Houston, 1st Batn. AL Cadets

Dear List:

A Compatriot of the W.D. Cameron SCV Camp in Meridian, MS, recently acquired a Confederate Tombstone from an Antique Dealer. Our Compatriot purchased the stone because it clearly wasn't being used to mark a Confederate hero's grave anymore. We are trying to get info so that we can find the original location of the stone (cemetery) and contact some family members, if possible, as the stone clearly is not where is is supposed to be and the family may not be aware that the stone is missing! The info on the stone is: "R.M. Houston Co. A 1st Bat. Ala Cadets CSA." Can anyone tell us where this CS Patriot is buried? If so, is his grave marked with some other stone, perhaps one indicating his CS service? Any help in locating his final resting place would be appreciated. We just want to return this stone to its rightful place, marking the grave of a Confederate warrior. Thanks! -- Jim Huffman, Gainesville Vols, SCV Camp 373, Pearl River County, MS
