Cathy --

This man's widow, Margaret H. Roberts, had her claim for filed with the War Department on Feb. 20, 1863. David A. Roberts died on August 27, 1862, Tyner's Station TN. This is near Chattanooga TN. His regiment, the 34th Alabama Regiment, was in transit from western Mississippi via Mobile, Montgomery, Atlanta and Chattanooga on the way to central Kentucky. Evidently Roberts became sick on the journey by rail and died of disease.

The soldier's service file include a series of papers file in Coosa County Probate Court by his widow. These are far more valuable to you than a single muster roll.
