Re: Response from Sec War Seddon to AL Gov Shorter

It seems the letter dated May 9, 1863 from General Bragg enclosed at the bottem of my initial post, Gov. Shorter to Seddon, would have been the next in the series of letters pertaining to slaves captured by Forrest.
I believe had the good Gov. had his way, and the Unionist been turned over to him, for trial, and conviction and more than likely execution? It may have prevented any future Alabamians from enlisting in the Union Army and possibly may have never been a 1st Al. USV Cavalry? It may have also possibly altered events, and future demographics and politics of Winston, Cullman and other Northern Alabama Hill Counties.
Any thoughts?
