My Great Grandfather Corporal J.D. Calloway of Co B Oates 15th Ala Inf. was promoted to sergeant in May, 1863 for meritorious conduct. This had to be about the time of the fight at Suffolk, Virginia, in which his brother Frank B. Calloway was killed. How do I find out what his meritorious conduct was? R.D.
