Two recent posts have observed that men served, "under the banner of another state." Nearly 300 men from North East Alabama served in the 6th Georgia Cavalry. In fact, an entire Company, including officers, enlisted in the 6th at Center, AL. Several members of our heritage group were frustrated, searching AL records for their ancestors service, only to discover they were in a GA Regiment. Perhaps this post will help someone that has also been stymied.
