Steve, thank you very much for the info. I figured that the marker in conecuh county was not Sgt Hanks burial spot. I have been to Port Gibson several times and have not found the actual spot. Do you know any of the scv members that did research or do you have contact info for the Hanks descendant u mentioned? My cousin Stanley is the commander of a camp in evergreen and also have a cousin in Atmore that used our gg grandfather to join.
