I have an ancestor that was physically unfit for duty, so he was assigned as a nurse and later as a ward master at the General Hospital at Camp Watts, Notasulga, AL. Muster rolls obtained from the Stout collection show him as a Private in Company B. My question is what would best describe his unit designation? I want to get a VA headstone for him, but am unsure what I should have put on it. The rank and company designation is easy, but what unit? "General Hospital"? "Camp Watts, AL"? Any suggestions would be apprecitated.
