That cannot be accurate. It's rare to find a Confederate pension application for anyone born in 1848 to 1849, let alone earlier. The same is true of birthdates reported on the 1907 and 1921 state census of Confederate veterans.

Based on correspondence with the War Department and regimental commanders, parents of boys under eighteen normally had their children returned from the army.
