Hello Kathy and Alan.

The Union Army offered $100 bounties to anyone who would enlist in Co. L of the federal version of the First Alabama Cavalry. The bounty money was never paid, however. After the war the government ruled that these men were simply refugees and not entitled to receive bounty money.
