Re: Kingston, GA surrender, May 12-20, 1865

Elisha D. Wiginton (may be different spellings)
65th GA Inf, Co. A; also Smith's Legion
Private
Enlisted 9/6/62, Loudon TN with Smith's Legion then transferred into 65th GA Inf in March 1863.
Noted as deserting 12/8/1863 and took Oath of Allegiance at Chattanoga TN 4/11/1864. He apparenty deserted and took the Oath with his brother Robert F., also of the 65th GA.
Pension record states that he surrendered with his command at Kingston GA "at the close of war".
Interesting to me that he took the Oath in 1864 but supposedly surrendered at Kingston a year later.

Will be interested to read the stories of other men that you find to see if others have similar stories.
