This man was assigned to the 23rd Alabama Regiment as a conscript from Camp of Instruction at Talladega AL. On the October-November roll his name was carried as M. Bice, but corrected on the next roll to be N. Bice. He was enrolled at Talladega on Sept. 23, 1862, deserted Nov. 23, 1862, and never heard from again.

If Marion M. Bice was born in 1848, it's doubtful he would've been in uniform as a Confederate soldier. He certainly wasn't a conscript.
