Thanks for responding Alan. Marion Bice was born in 1839 in SC so would have been about 22 at War's outbreak. He had been living in Bartow County Georgia with parents but I could not find any M. Bice on the Georgia Records. He had four brothers that served in Georgia Regiments including one that served at Taladega Camp and the Bibb Iron Works in Alabama. That's why I suspected he may have enlisted in AL. I don't know what Marion Bice (or Byce on 1850 census) other given-name was.

Thanks so much for your help. It's very possible that this is the Marion Bice I am seeking but I find it difficult that he would desert with 4 brothers in harms way that he would have to answer to. I will eventually track this group of brothers down but as of now I am only positive of the service of one, the oldest, Lafayette and am fairly sure of the youngest, James. Marion, George Washington and William I am still seeking out.

I really appreciate your help.
