Barry --

The 1865 parole is for the consolidated 27th Alabama Regiment. This means that surrenders of members of other regiments are filed with this command. Mordecai White was Captain of Co. "I", 57th Alabama Regiment. Company members included recruits from Pike County, and in September 1863 the regiment was stationed at Pollard.

The veterans's census of 1907 shows Edmund Wiley Deese, born Nov. 5, 1845, a resident of Andalusia, Covington County AL. He also appears on the state's 1921 census of Confederate veterans, same town and county.
