That's stated in the soldier's service file. Your post mentioned that you had this, so I almost didn't bother to mention.

It's not in the record, but there was a total eclipse of the moon the night the Confederates came down from the slopes of Lookout Mountain. Soldiers had to walk with one hand on the shoulder of the man ahead to keep from falling. It was also very cold, and the movement had to be made in silence to keep the Yankees from hearing. Doubtless some men became lost that night and were left behind to be taken prisoner.
