I am not familiar with many of the cemetery locations up there but FindaGrave.com and the county site on usgenweb may have an index of names. It was after Ivan hit us hard and there was a real mess at a cemetery up the road from me where my Grandparents, GreatGrands and other family are buried. We had a clean up day a few months after Ivan and cleared debris and we saw some headstones that had been pretty much sunken under the weeds or were hidden by shrubs then we noticed a lot of those markers with CSA on them. Some we had been aware of but there were many more we did not know of. I noted the names and dates and anything else and then started digging. In the records, not the ground. :) It seemed quite a few were from the 15th Alabama or at least the info on the stones matched what I was finding in the records. Many of the younger family members began searching their 'tree' to match them to the units. We would like to think those efforts were of some help for a future 'searcher'. This is not just one instance. These small, old and many times rural cemeteries are being marked with GPS and name index for local Genealogical Society's, County Heritage books, Church records and other uses. The young military members from Corry Station helped us with the clean up for one of their community help days and they got into the spirit of the search for possible veterans from the CW.

That day I was not only able to at least clear up the area on my GGGrands from the 8th Fl, 53rd Alabama Partisan Rangers and the 32nd Alabama but found a few who served I did not have info on. Local groups are doing more resotration and indexing and making it available. I will try to find out if there is anything like that going on in the Pollard area. Pollard was quite an interesting area. Not just for the CW but other 'unlawful' reasons. John Wesley Hardin lived up there for a while until they arrested him here. Clyde Barrows father was born in that general area and I think Hardins wife was in that family tree. That 'added interest' is what gets the local groups busy sorting out names. I hope that is a help. I will check the Heritage Book for that county to see what cemetery indexing has been done. We have the books at our Genealogy Library in Pensacola.

Don't lose hope. Something may turn up.
