When I found the information (around four years ago) written in the old family Bible that John Anderson Clayton died at Pollard, Alabama, in October 1863, I did some searching on the internet in the Escambia cemeteries. Mr. Pitts also told me that it appeared he was in Ferguson's Company "I", 7th Alabama Cavalry from Pickens County.

You surely are correct that sometimes the information is written on sheets of paper curving around the edges. That's exactly how I found information about William Jackson Clayton (John Anderson Clayton's son) and the name and death of his first wife. I never even knew he existed until I found that. He was also a confederate soldier. He died in February 1908 and I have found no descendants in my searching.

It's been awhile since I checked cemeteries on the internet, so will do that again.
