Alan....this kind of detail is indeed what I am looking for...it seems these boys crisscrossed Mississippi and Alabama during their 3 1/2 year stints...

Do you by any chance know where Cantonment Walter was located?...I grew up in the area between Lucedale and Pensacola...50 years ago we used to "run the forts" on weekends when our parents would take us to the "beach" for picnics...mostly at Fort Pickens...before anything was "closed to the public"...it's too bad I didn't know about my GGGrands at that time...tellin' my age here but that was less than 100 yrs after the surrender of Mobile...like Buffet said, "Oh, the stories we could tell"....

thanks for your reply...my "walk in the footsteps" tour is probably going to be delayed until I can find several days for my journey...
