Re: 16th Alabama Infantry Regiment Co. D
Thanks for everyone's replies. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any of these publications on line. I'll keep looking. I would love to find someone's postings of letters or diaries regarding the history of the 16th, especially after they took such horrendous losses at Franklin that they were combined with the 45th and 1st Alabama in Nashville (maybe that's where I should be looking -- the 1st or 45th instead of the 16th as it relates to late 1864 and early 65). My G-grandfather was Thomas Armstrong Jones of Co. D. He made it through all 4 years after enlisting at Courtland and finally being paroled in North Carolina after Nashville. Any man who made it through 4 years of the major Tennessee battles this unit endured must have had some incredible stories to tell, as Sam Watkins did in "Co. Aytch." Thanks again for your efforts.
