I would agree about your ancestor. Bearing in mind that the 16th Alabama had dwindled to perhaps a hundred officers and men by the Nashville Campaign, that doesn't leave many present to have left behind a written record. You may do well to pursue accounts by officers and men of other regiments serving in Lowery's Alabama-Missisippi Brigade. Their story would be much the same as anyone from the 16th Alabama Regiment.
