I'd have a hard time swallowing a Sherman or Abe in my line after that mess. I have to laugh at my hubby's family though. There were 2 brothers, Andrew Jackson and Benjamin Franklin, (Steve Stacey can confirm it) who tie into the William Weatherford line. I'll bet Old Hickory never contemplated that.

My Alabama Heltons ended up naming a number of their sons after fighters. Jack Dempsey and Jess(?) Willard were the frontrunners for the shinerunning family.

Not sure if it was all idealogy or just convenience but all went with the South.
