Stokes' Rgt, 1st AL Cav.

Hello. I have been searching for a number of years regarding Robert Burke of Tallapoosa Co., AL. He was the brother of my g grandfather, John Burke. Our family Bible noted that Robert was killed in the war. I finally found a record that Robert died in Boonsville, MS in July, 1863. John Burke enlisted in the 1st AL Cav. in the fall of 1861 and was parolled in NC in 1865. There are a number of records on John Burke, who died in 1919. I can't find any information on Stokes' Rgt., but I believe it was formed in Tallapoosa Co, and my g grandfather probably joined that regiment with his older brother. I would appreciate any information on Stokes or that regiment that might include my relative, Robert Burke.

Thanks,

Gene Phillips
