Read your earlier message and neglected to respond. Could not locate anyone named Fray living in Alabama on the 1860 census. A Thomas Owens lived in Randolph County but was a young man in his twenties. He served as an enlisted man in the 25th Alabama Regiment and couldn't reasonably be credited with raising his company. Finally, no one named Belcher lived in Madison County AL on the 1900 census, Huntsville being the county seat of Madison.

Your message suggested that no state was associated with the people or the flag mentioned in the news story. Is that correct?
