[from unit records] Capt. Andrew W. Bowie's Company Alabama Cavalry. Enrolled July 15, 1861. Mustered in August 13, 1861. In November 1861, this company is found to have been assigned to an unorganized Battalion of "Louisiana & Alabama" Cavalry commanded by Capt. Jno. W. Cole and was afterwards assigned as Co. D, Brewer's 2nd Battalion "Mississippi & Alabama" Cavalry, which became Co. A, 8th Regiment Confederate Cavalry. Andrew W. Bowie, Capt. John L. Stockdale, 1st Lt. Micah Taul, 2nd Lt. (retired). John S. McElderry, 2nd Lt. Newton B. DeArman, 2nd Lt.
