Thank you, George. I had found that link to the RR map and thought that might be the route they took, assuming it was by train. I just was not sure if there was something in their regimental history that actually told us. Do you think I can assume about 3 weeks of travel time -- less, more? Since the unit apparently saw their first engagement at the seige of Yorktown, I think I can assume they spent the first 6 months or so (July/Aug '61- April '62) "in camp", drilling and being bored? Would you agree? Thanks again for the information, all of it. Most helpful.
